STOCKX
Seller Profile
Managing System
StockX
Project Overview
StockX is an online marketplace and clothing reseller, primarily of sneakers. Users are able to buy and sell products that they own for a higher price than the retail price depending on market value.
Problem Statement
Although the app has a feature for sellers to view their listings, users needed a way to review their transactions and learn from past sale reports to understand purchasing patterns and trends to increase sales.
Challenge
To create a reporting and analysis managing feature for users so they are able to quickly and visually analyze past reports to determine revenue vs. expenses and how successful different products are compared to others.
Assumptions
Some assumptions were made to assist in the empathizing process.
-
All products are bought and sold in the US, so all currencies will be in the standard US Dollars.
-
The user is someone who sells on StockX.
-
Users are comfortable analyzing reporting systems
Research
I conducted an competitive analysis to understand features that competitors have that I might include in my design
Toast POS
-
Filters for time range selection
-
Sales management and report
-
Ability to export
-
Track transactions
-
Compare sales categories
Ebay Seller
-
Product listings
-
Fees stated
-

-

-
Lack of visuals
Pain Points
Based on the assumptions and competitive analysis, the following pain points were identified for Stockx Seller
Proto-Persona
Eric Gipson
Eric is a full time student at a private University. He has been using StockX to make extra cash for his college tuition. He spends lots of time analyzing sales and expenses by creating excel sheets.
Behavior:
-
Records his purchases and sales on excel sheet
-
Asks finance professors to help analyze data
Goals:
-
Make enough money to cover his college tuition
-
Identify the most/least profitable items.
-
To be more organized and find transactions/orders easily
Frustrations:
-
Eric is not a finance major and doesn't know how to use Excel.
-
Current StockX doesn't have system for sales management.
-
Eric is busy at school and doesn't have much time to calculate everything himself
Initial Sketch Idea and Wireframe
Primary objective was to create a sales managing system that allows users(sellers) to visually see sales trends and pull past transactions at ease.
On the user dashboard, users will click on menu item "selling" to view sales data.
The top block will display net sales by month
The middle block will display recent transactions
The bottom block will display product trends by category in the form of a line graph
Usability and User Test
I asked users that has sold products on Stockx for understanding, accessibility and what other features they would like to experience.
Suggestions to make the experience better:
-
Visual display of expenses vs revenue (they purchased the product from other users on Stockx).
-
Market trend to see when the product will be at its peak.
-
How successful are products from different categories. (Shoes compared to clothes and electronics)
High Fid Prototype
In the High Fidelity Prototype, the transactions and sales analytics are separated into two screens for organization purposes. More analytic modules are added to help users break down trends.
UI Components
These filters allow users to easily access the data that they need by time
This product breakdown organizes reports based on number of transactions. Select a report to view and the pie chart will automatically update by category. Once you click on a piece of the pie chart, a pop up will show with details about the total sale and itemized list of products in this category.
Project Summary
This project aims to help users(sellers) find, access and compare sales data. It enables the user to track past transactions, see the statuses and analyze sales by breaking down trends into visible pieces. The next step in the process is to design a analytics screen for the items purchased to better understand profits.
